Since the inception of TLBP in 2015, the organization has worked on several projects to enhance the public realm, public safety, environmental sustainability, and economic development. From implementing school garden at Toluca Lake Elementary School, sidewalk repairs along Riverside Drive, enhancements to the Riverside Median, landscaping of the 134 Freeway on/off ramps at Cahuenga Blvd, to an upcoming District Clock and Streetscape planning efforts on Riverside Drive.
To date, TLBP has accomplished the following:

Planted over 1-acre of ground cover, 250 large plants and 10 trees

Constructed 12 raised vegetable beds (Toluca Lake Elementary School)

Installed over 1,500 feet of irrigation lines (134 Freeway @ Cahuenga)

Replaced/installed 12 LED landscape lights (Riverside Dr. Median)

Resurfaced over 650 square feet of concrete sidewalks (Riverside Drive)

Ongoing beautification efforts (e.g. onramp maintenance, trash service on Riverside Dr., tree maintenance, sidewalk repairs)
134 FWY CAHUENGA RAMP BEAUTIFICATION


Toluca Lake Beautification Partners, in collaboration with the Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood and Caltrans executed a major improvement project encompassing 1-acre of three on/off ramps of the CA 134 Freeway at Cahuenga Blvd. The project was a new creative public-private-partnership with Caltrans District 7, and was implemented in less than nine months from start to finish.
SCOPE
Clearing one-acre of site area, installing all new landscaping and irrigation of all three on/off ramps at Cahuenga Blvd. Program includes two years of site landscape maintenance and trash removal.

Toluca Lake Beautification Partners, in collaboration with the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commerce, implemented a major revitalization project of the median on Riverside Drive and Ledge. The project included sustainable design upgrades throughout (drip irrigation, low voltage lighting and controllers), as well as installing all new drought-tolerant and native plants and trees.
SCOPE
Landscaping the Riverside Dr. median including 12 new trees, LED lighting, and native ground cover.

Toluca Lake Beautification Partners, in collaboration with the Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council, LA Unified School District and EnrichLA, implemented a new sustainable garden program at Toluca Lake Elementary School. The project involved the removal of a major section of asphalt and installing an urban garden (irrigation, controllers) as well as instituting an LAUSD accredited “Garden Ranger” program, which provides courses each Friday.
SCOPE
Repurposing a large asphalt area in the main playground to accommodate 12 new raised garden beds, 7 new trees, additional planting areas, seating, and space for programming of the LAUSD Ranger Program.
